Babies in Stripes

I LOVE babies in stripes.  I have loved babies in stripes for as long as I can remember. My stripe obsession in general is well documented. But I am particular about my stripes. I'm not as much of a fan of multi-stripes, I like big thick solid stripes - black and white, blue and white.  It's so fresh, especially on a baby!

We actually bought TWO of these Baby Gap onesies (in different sizes), I just couldn't resist!

Super cute stripes from Hanna Andersson:

This little organic cotton hoodie and pant set by Australian company Gaia is just too adorable!  Mum please feel free to pick them up and bring them over next time you visit!

So now a semi-serious question: is it possible to dress a baby entirely in stripes for the first year of his life?  I'm sure tempted to try!

Fun Nursery Toys

We're kind of obsessed with Blabla dolls.  They're not cheap at $46 each, and I'm not sure he really needs all of these, but they are seriously adorable, and I think will add some fun color to the nursery!  Here are our top picks:

Leonardo the Lion:

Bubbles the Cat:

Beauregard the Wolf:

Bandit the Raccoon:

They also have these super cute fruit and veggies, set of 5 for $37:

I have a similar obsession with the Ugly Dolls.  I will confess that I've spent at least an hour on their website trying to choose between them, a surprisingly difficult task!

Big Toe:

Ket:

Ox:

Grody:

Uppy:

Suddy:

Brip:

I think Big Toe, Ox and Ket are my favorites, but it's so hard to choose!  At $20 each they are at least a little cheaper than the Blabla but I can't buy them all!

Nursery Decorating: Bits & Bobs

More nursery decorating bits and bobs including these fun animal themed wall decals from Ferm Living and The Wallsticker Company:

I'd love to get a print of one of my favorite George Rodrigue paintings like this one (side note: friends of ours actually own the original -  mind blowing!):

Or this one, Dog On Stump, which was available as of February 2010 for $3,500 unframed.  Not quite in the nursery budget but a girl can dream!

For some reason I'm loving the idea of some octopus art, like these from Etsy by artist Dimdi:

And Lulibies, also on Etsy:

You can have this Delivery print from Alexander & Co. personalized with your baby's details via Cambria Cove:

Cute Sammy Seagull print by Wayne Pate:

My hubby loves this Learn Your A-B-Sea Print from James Mattison:

Continuing the ocean theme, we spotted these adorable lamps at Orson & Blake in Sydney over the holidays I think they'd make a great nursery night light.  I've asked Mum if she can bring me one or two next time they come over.  Fingers crossed they are still available!

I love this Utopia owl lantern and Needlepoint lion pillow from Jonathan Adler:

I've been obsessed with the Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair for some time now.

The real deal is not exactly affordable - I'm thinking maybe a 35th or 40th birthday present if I'm really really lucky - but what about a slightly more affordable mini one for the nursery?  Yolk Chair from Little Nest:

I spotted this amazing cradle on 1st Dibs a few years back, it's a limited edition Piero Fornasetti, $8,000 from Dragonettte Limited, and is (surprisingly?) still available:

I've been really into the idea of an enormous plush giraffe for the nursery since as long as I can remember, but now I'm wondering if it's a little played out?

Maybe I should do a life size plush Cheetah from Melissa & Doug instead?

I like this cute little Elephant bookshelf from Weego Baby:

The hubby has wanted this Harry Allen Pig Bank for some time now, and I tend to think every room needs a touch of metallic, even a nursery!  From Fawn & Forest:

I'm strangely drawn to this Balancing Cactus from Bel Bambini, although maybe not till he/ she is at least 1:

I love this Owl Zoo Bib also from Bel Bambini:

I know it's a little premature but this Zoo Frog Backpack from Weego Baby is just too adorable, want!

Diaper Bag Dilemma Solved?

I've been trawling the internets for weeks now looking for a diaper bag, and I couldn't find a single one that I liked until today when I discovered the Charlie Bag from So Young Mother.

I've watched the video and read the reviews and it really seems like a great practical, all purpose bag that I can also use as my purse, and that the hubby can also carry without feeling goofy.  It includes a changing pad, stroller straps, messenger strap, it converts to a backpack as needed, has cooler compartments, bottle pockets, laminated easy to clean interior and can even fit a 13" laptop and a yoga mat - I love it!

It's $175, not cheap, but I think it's the one!  The only question is black or slate? Probably black, but luckily I have time to decide!

Plaid Pigeon Planters

I just discovered these planters by Plaid Pigeon on Etsy and I'm obsessed!

Sadly I missed out on the sold out Zach the Triceratops and whatever those lovely long necked fellows above were, but earlier today I did order these three: Penelope the Hippopotamus, Jake the Stegosaurus and Dylan the Tyrannosaurus Rex:

And I just discovered these two new guys were added to their Etsy site tonight!  April the Giraffe and Elmer the Elephant:

How will I curb my impulse to buy them all?!  I do think they'll look very cute on a high shelf all lined up in the sun!  And at $16-$20 each, I think they are fairly reasonable and super fun nursery decor!
